Tech Group Activities:(Contact above Chairs or Bob Carullo for details or input)

The SMART States Committee annually sets our top three priorities. For 2010 they are:

         - Education / Workforce  (STEM Education / Workforce Development)

         - International

         - Energy / Environment

Other Groups continue to conduct activities.

Education / Workforce

Is conducting or supporitng a regional series of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education and Workforce Development events. We have completed events in Burlington County NJ (Feb at Virtua Hospital), Philadelphia PA (Lincoln Financial Field) and Aberdeen MD (Sabre Systems for Harford, Cecil & New Castle Counties). Planing is underway for events in Union County NJ (Kean U), Camden County NJ (CCC), Southern MD (Sabre Systems), Aberdeen MD (APG), Bucks County PA (LM) and others have been proposed or requested.

International

The four state International Directors have met on Mar 1st and July1st to plan a major International event in Jan 2011 in Baltimore to follow up their 2006 event that attracted 17 Countries.

Energy / Environment

We have supported three Energy events in the region and are planning further events and proposed projects. We are also supporting Environment events, issues and projects.

HLS

Continues its' series of Forums and meetings. We have two approved PA grants pending funding. We are supporting the establishment of the Delaware Valley Inelligence Center in Phila.

Transportation

Is focusing upon projects. They have approved federal and PA grants for Port / Transportation Hub / Infrastructure Security which are both pending funding.

Also, all of our 14 Technology Groups (below) support non-SMART events that relate to their topics and SMART is a co-sponsor or supporting sponsor of many state-wide, regional, national and international events.
